How can I register for the TOEFL test?
  To register for the TOEFL test, visit the official TOEFL test information page and select your country. After selecting your country, choose "Scheduling an Appointment to Take the Test." Then you can find all the registration information you require.
 

Do I have to take the computer-based TOEFL test?
 

If the computer-based TOEFL test is offered in your country, then you must take it. ETS, the organization that oversees TOEFL, is working towards phasing out the paper-based test. To find out what format of test you have to take, visit the TOEFL Web site.

Should I have excellent computer skills?
  You don't need computer experience to take the TOEFL test. There are mandatory tutorials on test day to show you how to take the test. These tutorials are not timed and show you the "skills" needed to take the test.

What is "computer-adaptive testing?
  For the adaptive portions of the computer-based TOEFL test--Listening and Structure--the language level of each question depends on how you answer the previous question.

What's the best way to practice for the TOEFL test?
  There are many ways to prepare for test day. It helps to be familiar with the format of the TOEFL test and to be proficient in writing, reading, and listening. TestDEN offers practice in all these areas. The Web is an excellent resource for English practice, from chat groups to news groups to English language Web sites.

How often can I take the TOEFL test?
  You can take the TOEFL CBT once per calendar month. For example, if you take the test in June, you must wait until July to take it again.

Do I have to write the essay?
  All students who take the TOEFL CBT must write the essay. The essay makes up approximately half of your final Structure score.

How is the computer-based TOEFL test scored?
 

Listening and Structure, computer-adaptive sections, give scores based on your performance and difficulty of your questions. Your Structure score is combined with your essay score. Reading is scored according to how many questions you answer correctly.
